A proud member of several organizations, Joe was actively involved with the Masonic Lodge, Eagles, Elks, Moose Lodge, and was a 25-year member of the Shriners. His dedication to service and his deep care for others were evident in everything he did.

Those who knew Joe fondly remember him as “Papa Joe,” a nickname that reflected his caring and generous nature. He was a man who gave freely without seeking recognition and took great pride in his family — especially his son and grandchildren. An avid car collector, Joe cherished his impressive collection and was especially proud of The Corvette Shed, which he often opened for community benefits and special events, bringing people together through his love of cars.

Joe is survived by his son, Zach (Katie) Coleman of Pana; grandchildren, Clayton, Elcie, and Wyatt Coleman; special children, Bridgett, Abby, Lizey, Chad, and Levi; special grandchildren, Cayden, Kynlie, Parker, Presley, Saylor, Lenny, Lexi, Addilyn, Easton, Liv, Izzy, and Addie; sisters, Linda Paden of Windsor and Debra (Lamar) Embry of Toledo, IL; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Brett “Brent” Henschen. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Morrissey Coleman and Billy O. Coleman.

Private family services will be held. A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, November 14, at 5 p.m. at The Corvette Shed in Pana. Memorials in Joe’s honor may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home, which is assisting the family.
